What to do if…

Someone in my household has COVID-19 symptoms

  • Child / children should not attend school
  • Household member with symptoms should get a test
  • Whole household self isolates while awaiting test results
  • Inform the school immediately about test results

Back to school only if household member tests negative and child does not have symptoms.

My child has COVID-19 symptoms

  • Child / children should not attend school
  • Child should get a test
  • Whole household self isolates while awaiting test results
  • Inform the school immediately about test results

Back to school only if child tests negative and has been fever free for at least 48 hours.

My child tests positive for COVID-19

  • Child / children should not attend school
  • Child should self-isolate for 10 days self isolates from date symptoms started (or date of test if no symptoms)
  • Inform the school immediately about test results
  • Whole household self isolates for 10 days from date symptoms started (or date of test if no symptoms)

Back to school after 10 days if the child has been fever free for at least two days and feels well enough to return to school.

Children can return to school even if they still have a cough or loss of taste or smell. These symptoms can last for several weeks after the initial infection.

I or someone in my household has tested positive for COVID-19

  • Child / children should not attend school
  • Whole household self isolates for 10 days from date symptoms started (or date of test if no symptoms)
  • Inform the school that the child will not be attending as household is self-isolating

Back to school only after 10 day self-isolation period is complete. This applies even if child is tested during the isolation period and received a negative.
