Home Schooling

The internet is a brilliant source of learning, but it is worth following some simple rules to help you child stay safe online:

  • Use the list of fun and educational websites recommended on our year group pages.
  • Always sit with young children when they use the internet. For older children, regularly check in on them and ask them to work where you are.
  • Talk to your child about how to stay safe and let them know they can come to you if they find themselves in any sort of trouble.
  • Explore the parental control and security settings on all devices and make sure they are set to the level you require.

Internet Safety

Internet safety is an integral part of children’s education in today’s digital world and is embedded in their learning at school.  At St Ann’s children are taught how to keep themselves and their friends safe and happy online, and are encouraged to be responsible with personal information.

At Home

As a parent you’ll know how important the internet is to children – they use it to learn, play, socialise and express themselves.  It’s a highly creative place of amazing opportunities.  But the technology children use every day can seem a bit daunting and you might worry about the risks your child can face online – such as bullying, contact from strangers or the possibility of the seeing illegal or inappropriate content.

 

To try and help parents with the fast moving and changing world of the internet and social media we’ve suggested a few internet sites which are fantastic resources.  They contain information on different types of social media and how to keep children safe.

National Online Safety     

As you are aware, the online world is posing an ever increasing risk to children and it is important that we work together to take an active role in teaching children about online dangers and how to act safely when using the internet.

 

We are therefore delighted to announce St Ann’s has shown our commitment to protecting our pupils online by taking a proactive whole school community approach to internet safety and we are now working towards achieving National Online Safety Certified Community accreditation.
