We celebrated World Mental Health Day with some very special assemblies this half term. We looked at our differences and similarities and agreed that it would be very dull if we were all the same! We talked about the different things that made us happy and how we can use this things to help us when we feel unhappy.
Older children in KS2 discussed "uncomfortable" feelings of sadness, anger or overwhelm and created "Wheels of Coping Skills" that they could turn to when they experience these feelings.
For our younger children in KS1 and EYFS, we talked about "happy plates" and filled our wheel with all the things we enjoy doing so that when we feel sad, we could use this to quickly find something to help cheer us up. The children loved making them and it was a great opportunity for us to talk about uncomfortable feelings and ways we can work through them in a positive way.
