Trafford Library Service

We are so lucky in Stretford to have our own library.  We make it our aim for every child in the school to be given the opportunity to visit Stretford Library and get a library card if they have not already got one.  We find the children thoroughly enjoy their trip to the library and it is always a positive experience for them.  Trips to the library are a great way to develop your child’s love of reading and a wonderful way to introduce them to authors and genres that they may never have considered before.   As an added bonus, the library is free!  It is a wonderful way to entertain your children at the weekend, or during the holidays, and it is always worth looking on the library website in case there are workshops or story hours running.

Please remember the library is an excellent resource for research as well.  The internet is so convenient and fast and makes our lives much easier in so many ways.  When research homework is sent home, or your child comes home talking about the topic they are learning about in school, please remember that the library offers a wealth of non-fiction texts that your child may find interesting and enjoyable to read.  It is such valuable experience for them to be able to visit a library and learn about the process of finding specific genres and topics; speaking with the librarians; and being shown where to go in the library to find what they are looking for.  Witnessing the pleasure on the children's faces when they find a book that gives them the information that they are seeking is such a joy!

For further information about Stretford library, or indeed the Trafford Library Service, please either visit your local library, or have a look at their website.
